We love our studio. It might be cosy and not suited for large groups, but it’s perfect for small family shoots (and our business headshots and product shoots, if that’s what you need).
First and foremost, it’s a controlled environment. That means we don’t have to worry about the weather. It’s warm in winter and cool (with air conditioning) in summer. You can wear what you want at any time of year, and you aren’t limited to what is comfortable outside. And you can bring changes of clothing (we have a bathroom that’s large enough for your to change in) to get a variety of styles and looks in the same session. It even has a mirror so you can check on your hair - which won’t be blown around by the wind.
As you sit in comfort (on our chairs, stools and sofa - between shots and for the shots!), you can prepare for the shots. Everything is set up and ready - we don’t need to look for a location if one is busy. Nobody else around is watching you (they aren’t in the park anyway, but you can still feel self-conscious!). You can throw yourself into the session without worry.
We also control all the lighting, so we can get exactly the look we want every time. We are not at the mercy of the sun, so we can add drama, soft light, flattering light - whatever we want - at any time. We can change lighting. We can change backgrounds. And you don’t even need to walk to get from one background to another.
On top of that, being in a studio makes you feel like a star. You get used to the lighting after the first few minutes, and start throwing yourself into it like a supermodel. Which makes your images even better.
Finally, and not to be base, but we have a toilet. Which, especially with small children, takes a weight off your mind!
